Users will soon be able to view status updates in the chat list thanks to a new feature being developed by WhatsApp. Recently, the social media firm tested additional admin tools and tried to undo the ability to delete messages on the messaging network owned by Meta. The new Whatsapp version will make it simple for users to determine whether someone has posted a new status update. Instead of opening Whatsapp and going to the Status section to view the story, users will be able to check their statuses under the Chats section by simply tapping on their profile image. Let’s examine the new modifications and everything we currently know in more detail. Recently WhatsApp Will Get Instagram-Like Reactions to Status With Emojis: What Does This Mean?
Soon, you might be able to view status updates by tapping on the profile picture, similar to how you do it on Instagram.
Users could previously only see publicly posted status updates in the Status tab; now, with this addition, users will be able to see the statuses while browsing the chats list or searching for conversations and messages. This is similar to what Instagram provides on its platform. When an unseen story is present, a ring appears around the contact’s profile picture, as shown in the image.
When a user currently clicks on the chat cell, WhatsApp displays a conversation view with the selected contact. However, with this future Instagram-like feature, users will be able to see a contact’s status update by clicking on the profile image.
If you don’t like this feature, you can stop Whatsapp from showing stories in the conversation list tab. Whatsapp will also provide the option to mute all status updates so that these updates do not distract you in your feed.
The feature is currently being rolled out to WhatsApp Beta testers on Android (v18.104.22.168), and WABetaInfo expects more feedback in the coming weeks. We also believe that the feature will soon be available to certain WhatsApp beta testers on iOS.
